TERRY ALLEN HELPING ASPIRING entrepreneurs
After spending 18 years in sales with Microsoft, Terry Allen, an engineer by background, was looking for an outlet in which he could share his expertise with New Zealand based SME’s. After meeting Steve Corbett – the ecentre CEO – at a networking evening, he offered the ecentre his services in the areas of sales, marketing and the distribution of software products in New Zealand and internationally.
“I met Steve when I was running the Icehouse accelerator/Incubator, addressing the challenges of early stage commercialisation and we stayed in touch since then.” said Terry.
Since then Terry has held a number of roles at the ecentre. First and foremost he is one of the directors on the ecentre board, a role he uses to contribute to the strategic direction of the company. His expertise has also been utilized on numerous occasions in the development of go to market strategies for some of the ecentre’s tech ventures. As if this help wasn’t enough, he has also been an angel investor in a handful of early stage ventures. Companies appreciate both the wide skill set and networks he has to offer. As a strategic advisor he dramatically accelerates the speed with which companies can get to market, something that has quickly become apparent when looking at the companies he has worked with. Terry has also exhibited a knack for quickly gauging the capabilities of a company and understanding the specific areas he can add a value as a shareholder. His ongoing support with the ecentre is extremely appreciated, and his help shows that intellectual assistance is as important, if not more important than financial assistance.
